The Tampico Stogies tallied 4 runs in the 1st inning and topped the Columbus Crowd by the slimmest of margins, 9 to 8. Tampico took the lead off Jake Peavy in the first inning when they scored 4 runs on 5 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Felipe Lopez who made the crowd happy when he banged out a single scoring two baserunners. Columbus had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. The winning pitcher was Daniel Cabrera(6-4) who allowed 6 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Jason Frasor recorded his 15th save. Peavy(7-4) absorbed the loss. He was knocked around by Tampico, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings. 'Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals' said Frank Lopeman after the game. 'We lost this game today because we didn't follow the instructions every Little Leaguer hears every day.'
